Day 331 Bangkok (Thailand) / motorbike GS Dakar RTW overland adventure traveller

  • Left 9am
  • 3rd March 2015
  • Miles rode 17 (27km)

I returned to the Thai Customs offices and presented them with my new extended visa, completed the various forms and within an hour I had been given permission to leave my bike in Thailand until 17th April! I still have no idea why they granted me it as it was contradictory to what they kept telling me? Anyway I don’t care, I have what I wanted and have kept up my ‘I don’t bribe people unless I’ve exhausted all other avenues’…

Yet again it proves that with questioning, research, more questioning and reasoned conversation there is always a way to get around the answer ‘NO’ however many times you hear it. A smile helps too.

After nearly 11 months of not seeing Olly, my son, he arrived at Bangkok airport where we had an emotional reunion. How wonderful it was to see him again having missed him for so long.

For the next month we’ll travel backpacker style from Thailand across Cambodia to Vietnam and back. Plenty of time to catch up and enjoy ourselves.
