Day 107 – 22nd July 2014 altitude 2,800 metres (KKH) Karimiabad

I wanted to wake at 4.30am to see sunrise but slept through the alarm. I woke at 8am and went straight to the balcony and just sat and marvelled at the amazing view.

At midday I was sitting on the balcony feeling the baking sun whilst looking over the beautiful Hunza Valley with snow on the mountains towering above me. Later I went to Karimiabad town and visited Baltit Fort, possibly the most well preserved and in the most beautiful location I have ever visited. I also made a purchase of a traditional Pakistan jacket and if I don’t put the weight on I’ve lost since travelling (who am I kidding) I’ll be the ‘man about town’ when I’m home:)

I have been talking to Faisal Soofi today and discussing where to travel to in the Upper Hunza Valley, he told me on the 28th there is a Yak race at 15,000ft, I hope I can get there.

It’s all about the people.20140726-151002-54602729.jpg
